Arrears Executive (Mortgage Litigation)

Working Pattern

  • Hours: 36.25 per week (Monday to Saturday, 8 AM – 7 PM)
    • Lunch: 45-minute break
  • Saturday shifts: Remote, last Saturday of every month (<9 AM – 12 PM)
  • Rota managed by the Line Manager

Salary & Benefits

  • Base salary: Up to £37,000 + up to 20% bonus
  • Work pattern: Fully UK remote or hybrid from:
    • London
    • Cardiff
    • Durham
    • Blackpool

The Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage late-stage mortgage and motor finance arrears, ensuring fair customer treatment and compliance with FCA rules (MCOB, CONC).
  • Oversee secured debt litigation, court documentation, and exit strategy planning.
  • Customer Centricity:
    • Handle inbound communications (phone, email, portals) professionally.
    • Identify high-risk cases (vulnerability, fraud, complaints) and escalate when needed.
    • Complete Income & Expenditure assessments and suggest appropriate forbearance measures.
  • Litigation & Compliance:
    • Draft regulatory-disciplined correspondence (reg-compliant arrears letters).
    • Ensure FCA TCF principles are upheld across everything done.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Proactively challenge inefficiencies.
    • Stay current with company/regulatory changes affecting arrears and litigation.
  • Training & Achievements:
    • Maintain competence via Tandem’s Training & Competence Framework.
    • Align with Company Balance Scorecard objectives.
    • Embrace a customer fairness culture.

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience managing later-stage arrears mortgage litigation.
  • Strong background in secured debt enforcement (motor finance repossessions, repossession processes).
  • Regulatory knowledge: FCA guidance (MCOB, CONC), CCA, GDPR.
  • Direct experience with income/financial assessments, compliant forbearance options, and customer financial vulnerability handling.

Preferred

  • Motor finance & unsecured loan arrears management experience.
  • Expertise in court proceedings, negotiating litigation exit strategies, and repossessions.
