Job Title: Art and DT Teacher

Location: Bluebank School, Whittington Moor, Derbyshire, S41 8LQ

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 8.30am - 4.00pm

Salary: £39,000 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: September 2026

We're looking for an enthusiastic and resilient Art & Design Technology Teacher to join our dedicated team, delivering engaging, personalised learning for pupils with additional needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire young people through creative expression while making a genuine difference to their lives.

You'll create a nurturing, inclusive classroom where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated to achieve their very best. Whether designing exciting art projects or delivering practical DT lessons, you'll help develop confidence, independence and essential life skills alongside academic progress.

What you will be doing

  • Plan and deliver engaging Art and Design Technology lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Create inspiring learning environments that encourage creativity, curiosity and achievement.
  • Differentiate learning to ensure every pupil can access the curriculum and make meaningful progress.
  • Assess, monitor and celebrate pupil achievement, using assessment to inform future planning.
  • Promote positive behaviour through nurturing, therapeutic approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic support.
  • Act as a Form Tutor where required, supporting EHCP reviews, pupil progress and parent communication.

What you will bring

  • QTS or equivalent required
  • Has experience teaching Art and/or Design Technology.
  • Believes every child can succeed and is passionate about helping pupils reach their full potential.
  • Delivers creative, engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may have SEN and/or SEMH needs.
  • Experience within an SEN environment is desirable, but not essential—your passion, creativity and commitment are what matter most.
  • Driving licence required
