Art Assistant – Part-Time, Self-Employed (Zero-Hours) | art-K Tring

About art-K art-K Tring is an art club for children aged 6 to 16, based in Hertfordshire. Using a diverse range of mediums and teaching techniques, the club aims to cultivate a broad understanding of artistic styles, along with 3D projects.

With over 50 branches nationwide and 8,000+ students, art-K boasts a tried-and-tested programme that effectively builds core artistic skills and techniques. The organisation is deeply passionate about kindle a love of art in its students and is seeking a like-minded, motivated, friendly, and practical Art Assistant to join their team.


Role Overview

The Art Assistant plays a vital role in supporting weekly sessions, encompassing a variety of tasks to ensure engaging, creative, and safe working environments. Training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mixing paints and preparing art materials 🎨
  • Encouraging and guiding children in their creative projects 🌟
  • Supporting the assimilation of art skills and techniques 🖌️
  • Assisting with session set-up and studio tidying 📚

Requirements

Essential:

  • Art GCSE achieved at grades 7-9
  • Strong knowledge of artistic techniques, including tone and perspective
  • Experience working with children is highly preferable
  • A positive, proactive attitude

Desirable:

  • Currently studying for an A Level, Foundation, or Art Degree
  • Ability to relocate or reliably commute to Silk Mill Business Park, Tring (within 30 minutes) in advance

Scheduler & Availability

We are seeking a part-time, self-employed (zero-hours) Art Assistant to support these weekend/evening sessions:

  • Saturday mornings & afternoons (08:30–19:45)
    • 08:30–10:45am
    • 11:00am–13:15pm
    • 13:30–15:45pm
  • Tuesday/Thursday evenings (15:45–19:45)
    • 15:45–17:45pm
    • 17:45–19:45pm

Term-Time & Holidays:

During school holidays (Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00), shifts are flexible, depending on workshop bookings. Shift hours and availability will fluctuate based on branch and session demands.

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: £8.79–£13.64/hour
