Art & Design Lecturer

Application Deadline: 7 August 2026

Department: Art & Design

Employment Type: Part Time

Location: Wigan & Leigh College

Compensation: £31,699 - £42,540 / year

Description

Part time, Permanent
Brilliant Art & Design teacher? You’d fit here.

At Wigan & Leigh College, you'll teach Art and Design across BTEC Levels 1, 2, and 3. This role is part-time so you can teach and continue with your own creative practice.

You'll cover a broad Art and Design curriculum, building students' technical skills, creative confidence, and understanding of what professional practice looks like. If you bring a specialism in Graphic Design, Textiles, or a related discipline, that would add something distinct to what we offer. But we're equally interested in educators committed to inclusive teaching with a deep understanding of creative arts.

What you'll do

  • Teach Art and Design across BTEC Levels 1, 2, and 3, covering technical skills and creative practice.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that develop practical ability and students' understanding of the creative industries.
  • Mark work, give clear feedback, and use assessment results to shape how you teach.
  • Keep assessed work verified and documented in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor, supporting students through their course and into their next steps.
  • Build connections with creative industry professionals to bring real-world experience into the curriculum.
  • Contribute to Open Evenings, department initiatives, and activities that promote Art and Design.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
