AI Engineer

6-Month Contract

Up to £700 per day (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)

X1 per week to City of London

We're looking for an experienced AI Engineer to join a high-performing technology team delivering AI-enabled solutions across enterprise applications. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working across the full development lifecycle, from front-end user experiences through to backend services, APIs, databases, and AI-powered workflows.

As an AI Engineer, you'll design, build and enhance scalable applications, AI-enabled services, and automation solutions that deliver real business value. This role offers broad technical exposure, with responsibilities spanning front-end development, backend engineering, cloud-native architectures, APIs, databases, and AI integrations. You'll collaborate with product, architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders to develop robust solutions while contributing to technical best practices, code quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using modern software engineering practices
  • Build and enhance scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed systems
  • Develop AI-powered features, workflows, and automation capabilities across business applications
  • Work across the entire technology stack, from Angular front-end development through to .NET/C# services and SQL databases
  • Optimise application performance, scalability, and reliability through analysis, tuning, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and DevOps best practices
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and contribute to production support activities
  • Produce clear technical documentation and share knowledge across the engineering team
  • Leverage AI development tools including GitHub Copilot to accelerate engineering delivery

Key Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with.NET / C#
  • Experience developing modern Angular applications
  • Solid SQL and database development expertise
  • Proven full-stack development experience across both front-end and back-end technologies
  • Experience building and integrating APIs and microservices
  • Knowledge of cloud-based and distributed application architectures
  • Experience developing or integrating AI-enabled solutions, automation workflows, or generative AI capabilities
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, and CI/CD
  • Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
