Transport Clerk

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, rotating days/nights

Salary: £28,730.19 pa

Reporting to the Transport Team Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the management of a fleet of drivers and transport support colleagues ensuring that they work within company guidelines. Providing a store network with a first-class service ensuring operational targets are met on a weekly and monthly basis through effective use of scheduling information provided by the customer.

The Role

  • Shift Pattern – rotating days and nights 4 on 4 off
  • Inputting of daily run sheets onto spreadsheets and web-based programmes
  • Filing of Transport related documentation
  • General Transport Administrative tasks
  • Completing daily reports and communications
  • Complete small projects, identify, and communicate results
  • Briefing drivers at the start of every shift, communicating planned requirements, providing information on performance, company news, and procedures
  • De-briefing drivers via Microlise
  • Supporting the fleet recovery/maintenance plan
  • Increasing communication with stores
  • Ensuring the department complies with the Road Traffic Act
  • Ensuring drivers comply with Health and Safety regulations
  • Undertakes such duties as may be reasonably required for the effective operation of the function and department

The Person

  • Previous experience working in an office environment
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Previous Transport experience would be preferred but not essential
  • An understanding of Drivers Working Time Directive and EU Regulations is desirable but not essential
  • Strong administration skills including attention to detail, timeliness, and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Must have a flexible approach to working hours
  • Self-motivated with a ‘can do’ approach
  • Good team player who can work on their own initiative
  • Someone looking to progress and develop within the department and the company
  • Good communicator at all levels
