Student Experience & Support – askUS Enquiries Team

Opportunity Overview

Student Experience & Support (SES) is part of the wider Directorate of Student and Academic Support (DSAS), which unites The Library, Quality Enhancement Office, School Operations and Student Administration alongside SES as a unified team.

SES delivers:

  • A programme of personal growth and support, including:
    • Advice and guidance

The team is structured across four divisions:

  • Careers
  • Enterprise
  • Student Support
  • Student Experience and Engagement

With an ambitious new structure, expanded resources, and prime location on the Peel Park Campus, SES embraces creativity, enhances customer experience, promotes flexibility, and champions innovation. The focus is on serving a diverse student community through a customer-informed approach.

The askUS Enquiries Team serves as the frontline staffing for askUS. As the first point of contact for students, staff, and customers, the team is critical to delivering a successful student support service. Operating beyond traditional office hours, askUS supports student needs during the following hours:

Core Operational Hours

Trimester 1 and 2

  • Monday – Thursday: 8 am – 6 pm
  • Friday: 8 am – 5 pm

Trimester 3

  • Monday – Thursday: 8 am – 6 pm
  • Friday: 8 am – 5 pm

Part-Time Hours

  • 9 am – 3 pm (Monday to Friday)

This role offers two full-time positions and two part-time positions available, though the advert may close early if high volumes of applications are received.


Key Responsibilities

The askUS Enquiries Team delivers an exceptional service across multiple sectors. Key duties include:

  • Personalised support:

    • Deliver a personalised, expert, customer-focused service to students, staff, and external partners.
    • Serve as the first point of contact, responding in agile/roaming settings via multiple communication methods.
  • Knowledge and service alignment:

    • Stay updated on all services within askUS’s full portfolio.
    • Capture customer needs during interactions to drive customer-informed service improvements.
  • Feedback collection:

    • Gather feedback via paper forms, online monitors, and student focus groups.
  • Cross-team collaboration:

    • Support internal and external service enhancement projects across askUS.
  • Resource promotion and access:

    • Facilitate student access to valuable information, services, and resources to support their university journey.
  • Technical operations:

    • Use ICT systems and efficiently manage administrative processes for seamless service delivery.
  • Problem resolution:

    • Anticipate and address potential and emerging issues, including:
      • Facilities faults
      • Health and safety concerns
      • Customer behavioural challenges
