Asphalt Plant Operative
Location: Wednesbury
Salary: Competitive
Heidelberg Materials is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Asphalt Plant Operative to join our team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for operating, inspecting, and maintaining our asphalt plant to ensure the production of high-quality materials that meet customer and company standards.
Your Responsibilities
- Operate static and mobile plant machinery safely and efficiently.
- Plan daily production based on customer requirements and plant capabilities.
- Carry out start-up and shut-down procedures, optimizing throughput.
- Conduct thorough inspections and routine maintenance of plant equipment.
- Operate Front-End Loaders (FELs) and dumpers for material movement and plant feed.
- Refuel and maintain both static and mobile machinery.
- Maintain accurate records and report defects or near misses.
- Support operations at other local sites when required (travel allowance provided if applicable).

Key Accountabilities
- Safe and efficient operation of all plant equipment.
- Completion of daily inspection sheets and maintenance logs.
- Timely reporting of faults and issues to site management.
- Energy-efficient operation of machinery.
- Adherence to Heidelberg Materials’ safety and operational standards.
- Good timekeeping and reliability.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in operating plant machinery (FELs, dumpers, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to nearby sites when needed.
- A proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving.
