Aspiring Child Counsellor

Aspiring Child Counsellor - Guildford

Location: Guildford, Surrey Categories: Mental Health, SEN, Counselling, Pastoral Support, Education and Training, Psychology, Criminology, Sociology

About the Role

Are you an Aspiring Child Counsellor local to Guildford? This Learning Support Assistant (LSA) role offers invaluable experience working with vulnerable children and young people aged 4–19, supporting their engagement, academic progress, and future life prospects.

You will provide tailored support to students with:

  • Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Associated social, emotional, and mental health challenges
  • Past trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)

A significant proportion of the most disconnected and vulnerable students face overwhelming barriers—including marginalisation, low attainment, and inadequate family support. Here, you will be pivotal in offering consistency, safety-preserving tools, and a proven pathway for students to belief in themselves and realise their potential.

This position is ideal for graduates in Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology, as it provides hands-on experience in an industry-relevant context, perfect for kickstarting your next career step.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
