Aspiring English Teacher Program - £24,066 Permanent Contract
EdEx are pleased to announce that we are now representing a Trust of Schools located across both London & Hertfordshire. We have been tasked in finding aspiring teachers across all subjects through both salaried and unsalaried teaching routes.
This Aspiring English Teacher Program is being offer as a "Earn, while you teach & learn" route - which in turn is a Salaried Schools Direct scheme.
Key points about the scheme:
- Paid position on the Unqualified Teacher (UQT) scale (most commonly UQ1)
- Employed directly by a school from day one
- Higher initial teaching load, typically around 15 periods per week
- Teaching load gradually increases to approximately 20 periods per week
- One dedicated training day per week
- Opportunity to gain QTS with PGCE (optional opt-out available if required)
- Working at one School throughout - avoiding any conflict in different teaching styles (in turn reducing stress on teacher)
One of the Schools is now looking for an Aspiring English Teacher to join their Secondary School this September 2026. This is a full-time, term time only position with the school employing you directly.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
