Aspiring English Teacher Program
£24,066 – £36,718 | Permanent Press Gangs Contract | Secondary Schools Direct
EdEx is delighted to present an exciting opportunity with a Trust of Schools spanning London and Hertfordshire. We are seeking gifted English Teachers through both salaried and unqualified teaching routes.
This program operates under the "Earn, while you teach & learn" model—a Salaried Schools Direct (Induction Teachers) scheme offering immediate employment and professional development.
Key Program Features
- Paid position on the Unqualified Teacher (UQT) scale (typically UQ1)
- Direct employment by a school from Day One
- Initial teaching load: ~15 periods per week, increasing gradually to ~20
- Weekly training day dedicated to professional development
- Qualification pathway – earn QTS with an optional PGCE
- Consistent working environment, teaching at a single school and maintaining consistency in teaching styles, reducing workload associated with multiple establishments
Aspiring English Teacher Role (Stevenage, London or Hertfordshire)
This is a full-time, term-time-only opportunity starting September 2026, employing direct within a secondary school. Responsibilities include:
Principal Responsibilities
- Teach across KS3-4, specialising in English Language/Literature
- Set and monitor progress on achievement, particularly in intervention cases for GCSE & A-Level English
- Engage with the Aspiring English Teacher Program (Schools Direct) — commit to structured training and professional growth
- Elevate quality of teaching while increasing your confidence and expertise in classroom delivery

Salary & Staff Value
Competitive compensation ranges at £24,066 - £36,718, including monthly bonuses (subject to terms and conditions).
Person Specification
Applicants must meets the following criteria:
- Degree in or related to:
- English, Literature, Language or linguistics
- Special requirements include: Education Studies, Journalism, Creative Writing, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Education combined with any subject (This should be based on the approved curriculum list stage 3)
- Proven academic record with **A Level **and GCSEs strongly favouring those with 3 A Levels (or equivalent) plus English and Maths GCSEs (Grade as usual 7-9)
- Subject authority in GCSE/A-Level English, including ability to confidently structure lesson plans
- Ability to motivate and engage students across all key stages
- Teaching Passion & Commitment to developing your professional career in education

- Good rated institution, with clear progress toward an 'Outstanding' designation
