Assembly Technician

Assembly Technician – Full Time Role

Position Summary: We are seeking a full-time Assembly Technician to join our expanding Product Assembly team, offering a dynamic opportunity to develop technical and assembly expertise within a world-leading metrology business. Roles vary, focusing on high-precision metrology instrumentation assembly, testing, and calibration. Full on-site training provided, with potential shift work requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate electrical and mechanical precision assembly skills, supporting internal teams, departments, and colleagues.
  • Assist in new product implementations, including prototype builds, training, and SOP development to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Engineers to refine techniques/processes, ensuring high-quality, cost-efficient production.
  • Maintain a task-focused approach, delivering high output and maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to team ethos, fostering Operational Excellence through collaborative working.
  • Assemble, test, and calibrate advanced instruments, often working with small components under tight deadlines.
  • Develop product knowledge to support varied assembly production tasks as required.
  • Uphold rigorous quality standards, ensuring excellence in customer service.
  • Serve as a role model for teammates and Apprentices, promoting professionalism and a positive work ethic.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven ability in electrical and mechanical assembly.
  • Experience collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering and R&D teams.
  • Familiarity with mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and precision assembly.
  • Strong track record of delivering high-quality production with minimal waste.
  • Methodical inspection skills, including intricate mechanical assemblies.
  • Proficiency with test procedures, data collection, and report writing.
  • Ability to work independently or in teams, adapting to project demands.
  • Willingness to engage in project meetings and contribute to continuous improvement.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 3 Apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Preferred: HNC/HND or higher in Engineering (competent candidates need not qualify as technical aptitude trumps formality).
