About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and professional Assessor in Health and Social Care to join our expanding department at Sandwell College. This is a fixed term opportunity for the academic year.

Based across our Sandwell College campus in West Bromwich and our new, state-of-the-art facility, Sandwell College @ The Learning Campus (situated on the Midlands Met University Hospital site), this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Social Care practitioner or assessor who is passionate about supporting learners within the further education sector. You will play a key role in assessing learners both in external workplace placements and on campus as part of their broader qualifications including T-Levels and Technical Occupational Qualifications (TOQs). Your work will ensure high standards of training, assessment, and professional development while supporting learners towards successful achievement.

Working closely with the Head of Section and wider curriculum team, you will contribute to the continued development of our technical provision, ensuring learners receive an excellent experience that supports achievement, progression, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a caseload of learners meeting with them on a regular basis to support and evidence their learning
  • Deliver a range of effective assessment techniques in the workplace and as part of the qualification, leading to timely achievements
  • Assess whether learner evidence meets the required standards for the qualification and unit criteria
  • Deliver targeted sessions to support learners with work readiness as part of their employer placements, rather than core curriculum delivery
  • Manage the administration of pre-placement checks for learners, including facilitating and monitoring student Enhanced DBS applications to ensure placement compliance
  • Attend regular meetings across our campus bases to collaborate with the wider Health and Social Care team and ensure standardisation
  • Continue your own professional development to retain competency in assessing modern Health and Social Care qualifications (including T-Levels/TOQs)
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Health and Social Care qualification frameworks and assessment standards
  • Maintain accurate academic and administrative records in line with Quality Assurance procedures
  • Liaise effectively with employers, learners, colleagues, and external stakeholders to support learner progress

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
