About The Role

Forth Valley College's Apprenticeships, Skills & Commercial Department is looking for a Fabrication and Welding Work Based Assessor to join our supportive and forward-thinking team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in guiding, supporting, and assessing candidates as they develop their skills within fabrication and/or welding disciplines.

We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of current industry practices, particularly in relation to vocational qualifications and quality frameworks. While experience of Modern Apprenticeship frameworks and quality requirements would be advantageous, we are committed to supporting your development and will provide guidance to help you succeed in the role.

If you're passionate about developing others and want to make a real impact in a collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver guidance and support to candidates in compiling and presenting a comprehensive portfolio of evidence that adheres to the vocational qualification's performance criteria and evidence requirements.
  • Conduct fair, safe, and reliable assessments of candidates' skills and knowledge in their respective workplaces.
  • Maintain excellent communication and IT skills to effectively manage interactions and documentation.
  • Exhibit a strong passion for professional discipline, with an ability to work under tight deadlines and independently manage workload.
  • Inspire, encourage, and motivate candidates, fostering an environment conducive to learning and professional growth.
  • Participate actively as a member of the engineering assessment team, contributing to the continuous improvement of assessment and internal verification processes and practices.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
