Main Function of the Role

This role sits within the Infrastructure investment platform and offers a compelling opportunity to gain experience across both active asset management and investment valuations within the infrastructure and energy transition sectors.

The position is within the Federated Hermes Infrastructure team, with a focus on hands-on asset and portfolio management. From time to time, there may also be opportunities to support our renewables development platform, Rivington Energy.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior investment professionals in a collaborative and supportive team environment, gaining exposure across the full lifecycle of infrastructure ownership, from asset-level performance monitoring and value creation initiatives to portfolio-level valuations and investor reporting.

This role is well suited to an Associate looking to build a long-term career in infrastructure asset management, with strong analytical foundations and a desire to continue developing their skills.

Key Task and Responsibilities

Portfolio Asset Management

  • Contributing to development and execution of Asset Management strategy, seeking to add value to and de-risk existing investments
  • Prepare analysis and materials for valuation committees and internal governance forums (quarterly), and investment committees (as required)
  • Assist with quarterly investor distributions and related analysis
  • Contribute to monthly portfolio performance reporting, highlighting key trends, risks, and developments
  • Monitor asset-level performance and support value creation initiatives in collaboration with asset management teams
  • Assist in exit review analysis across the portfolio
  • Support the delivery of ESG strategy and initiatives across the portfolio
  • Coordinate and respond to valuation related audit queries with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in the preparation of asset and portfolio level information required for investor presentations including Annual General Meetings
  • Coordinate and work collaboratively with Finance, Tax, Legal and other teams where relevant with respect to monitoring activities of selected existing investments and certain portfolio level activities

Asset-Level Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for maintaining and enhancing asset-level financial models, including valuations and scenario analysis, with support from the wider team
  • Support semi-annual asset valuations, including updating macroeconomic and asset-specific assumptions
  • Provide day-to-day asset management support, including participation in management, co-shareholder and advisor discussions
  • Reviewing board and committee papers and preparing analysis to support board and shareholder level approvals
  • Support value creation and strategic initiatives, including operational improvements and growth opportunities
  • Undertake benchmarking and market analysis to support asset valuation and performance assessment
  • Assist in preparing investment review updates for quarterly investor reporting

Projects and Strategic / Process Initiatives

  • Support portfolio and fund-level strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with investment teams on selected deal screening and early-stage analysis
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of asset management processes, including data-driven and technology-enabled improvements

Minimum Experience Required

  • University degree or equivalent experience, with a strong analytical foundation
  • Likely to have approximately three to five years of relevant experience (we welcome candidates with a range of backgrounds who can demonstrate the required skills)
  • Strong financial analysis and financial modelling capability; experience with discounted cash flow models is highly valued
  • Experience in infrastructure, energy, renewables, asset management, corporate finance, valuations, or accountancy is helpful but not required
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders
  • A proactive, collaborative approach, with an interest in working in a team-oriented environment

Candidate Profile

An intellectually curious individual with a genuine interest in infrastructure investing. The role requires initiative, sound judgement, and the ability to think independently while working collaboratively with others.

A collaborative and adaptable team member who enjoys the variety of day-to-day responsibilities, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
