Mansart is the growing asset management arm of J.P. Morgan’s Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB). Specialising in bespoke fund solutions, we deliver expertise in derivative-based products for: 🔸 Institutional investors – including insurance companies, pension funds, asset managers, private banks, sovereign wealth funds, and retail investors.

This role sits within the Mansart Operations Asset Management team, a collaborative 20-person group spread across London, Bangalore, and Mumbai. Our operational model blends startup agility with the financial power of J.P. Morgan, offering every team—from Portfolio Management to Technology—an opportunity to drive strategy execution together.


Role Summary

As a Middle Office Associate, you’ll bridge finance (Portfolio Management/Structuring) and operations, ensuring heights of efficiency in assets and risk management.


Key Responsibilities

Core Trade Support & Lifecycle Management

  • Master end-to-end trade execution for:
    • Bonds, equities, equity swaps, Interest Rate Swaps (IRS), Credit Default Swaps (CDS), and Foreign Exchange (FX).
    • Trade capture, vetting (including cross-transparency checks), confirmation, and lifecycle oversight.
  • Streamline settlements to minimise risk and penalties.
  • Deeply understand structure calculations (margin, collateral activity) and work with our Acadia risk management platform.
  • Resolve disputes and maintain risk knowledge to ensure policy adherence.

Life-Health Financial Infrastructure

  • Drive reconciliations with precision:
    • Cash and security audits with custodians.
    • NAV, fee reconciliations, regulatory reporting (e.g., EMIR compliance).
  • Actively model financial flows (from calculations to management) alongside Structuring to refine new product roll-outs.

Client Experience & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Build trust with clients through:
    • Proactive support (daily query resolution, troubleshooting).
    • Action-driven cross-functional meetings.
    • Skilled communication, especially when delivering difficult market news.
  • Collaborate with Structuring to efficiently deploy fund prospects while maintaining flawless execution.
  • Lead by incident resolution, by looking for systemic improvements.
  • Analyse complex workflows (e.g. trade data trends, expense justification) and afford high-level feedback to senior teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven ability to excel as a subject-matter expert—spanning financial processes, compliance, or operational workflows—demonstrating concise, cross-audience advocacy.
  • Strategic mind-sets for operational risk mitigation and consistency in simple but critical details.
  • Diplomacy that ensures calm in high-pressure moments—humility, empathy, and kindness in every relationship, from clients to vendors.
  • Hands-on tech aptitude: familiarity with Excel/Google Data Studio to analyse large datasets.
  • Drive inclusive problem-solving—call out obstacles, hold accountable, and foster buy-in across silos.

Preferred Capabilities

  • OTC derivatives fundamentals: including trade settlement processes, collateral handling.
  • Digital automation: tools like Alteryx for automating manual reconciliation routines.
  • Autonomy and teachability: ability to propose solutions (to managers and peers) and mentor junior associates.
