Assistant Accountant
Assistant Accountant – Financial Reporting & Support Role
Beyond Talent is working with a well-established, growing business based in the Barnsley area to recruit an Assistant Accountant into their finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a diverse role, seeking to develop experience across both transactional finance and month-end processes—complete with full training and expert support.
About the Role
You’ll take a central role in supporting the finance function, encompassing key responsibilities such as:
- Managing the purchase ledger
- Performing bank reconciliations
- Supporting accruals and prepayments
- Handling rebates and intercompany transactions
- Assisting with import-related accounting
- Reconciling company credit cards
- Supporting the production of management accounts

Requirements
- Proven experience in an accounts role (preferably at Assistant Accountant or Accounts Assistant level)
- Strong proficiency in purchase ledger management and reconciliation processes
- Hands-on experience with Sage and Excel
- Full confidence using Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP functions
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach with a willingness to learn
