Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant – Fixed Term Contract (12 Months)

About the Role

Amcor believes in unpacking possibility through responsible, innovative packaging solutions that enhance lives globally. This fixed-term contract opportunity (12 months) sits within the Amcor Paisley Financial Reporting team, focusing on accurate financial reporting and operational support.

You will assist the Finance team in monthly and annual financial close processes, group reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring alignment with global GAAP standards (US GAAP/IFRS).


Key Responsibilities

Monthly Management Accounts

  • Monthly accounting close in consultation with Head Office and Site Finance Teams
  • Review of trial balance, inventory reconciliations
  • Accruals, prepayments, and adjustments for accurate business performance reflection

Group Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, half-year, and annual group financial reporting using Cognos
  • Comply with tight deadlines, including Day 4 month-end reporting
  • Provide annual tax pack submissions as required

Balance Sheet Reconciliations & Compliance

  • Prepare reconciliations for financial statement approval
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure compliance with group policies
  • Assist in regulatory audits (group accounts, statutory accounts, Sarbanes-Oxley)

Mid-Month Duties

  • Bank reconciliations
  • Manual bank payment set-up, VAT reconciliations
  • ONS returns, intercompany reconciliations, currency adjustments
  • Payroll journal postings and reconciliations
  • Ad-hoc reporting to support wider site operations

General Ledger & Corporate Functions

  • Month-end close processes and reconciliations
  • Account set-up and mapping to group reporting system
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register (US GAAP / IFRS) & Operating Leases Register

Person Specification: Skills & Experience

  • Part-qualified CA/ACCA/ACMA (accountancy qualification in progress)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a management accounts role
