Assistant Accountant
Assistant Accountant – Part-Time Position (Oxford, Family Office)
About the Role
We’re working with an excellent Family Office seeking a part-time Assistant Accountant (3 days per week up to £35,000–£45,000). The ideal candidate will assist in clearing a substantial backlog, ensuring their accounts are brought up to date.
Responsibilities
- Managing journal entries for receipts, payments, and all financial transactions
- Clearing and processing backlog in Sage
- Filing source documents for all recorded entries
- Posting journal entries to relevant ledger accounts
- Compiling trial balances
- Conducting bank reconciliations
- Additional duties as required, including:
- Onboarding & offboarding clients
- Raising client letters of engagement
- Liaising with HMRC & Companies House
- Ensuring accurate filings with regulatory bodies

Key Requirements
- AAT qualification or equivalent experience
- Strong working knowledge of debits/credits, journal entries, and financial ledgers
- Excellent understanding of purchase/sales ledgers, credit control, and balance sheets
- Proficient in Sage accounting software
- Ability to work independently and autonomously
- Strong communication skills when liaising with clients, HMRC, and third parties
