Our growing SME client is looking for an ambitious Accounts Assistant / Assistant Accountant to join their friendly finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their accounting career within a successful SME where they can gain exposure across all areas of finance, receive professional study support and progress into a future Finance Manager position.
Your new role
This is a varied and hands-on opportunity that will provide exposure to both transactional and management accounting within a growing business environment. Working closely with senior management, you will gain a broad understanding of the company's financial operations while playing a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function.
Responsibilities
- Managing the accounts payable process
- Processing supplier invoices
- Raising sales invoices
- Overseeing accounts receivable activities and carrying out credit control to ensure timely customer payments
- Bank reconciliations
- Cash allocation
- Supplier statement reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end processes, including journal and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
- Maintaining accurate financial records and accounting data
- Assisting with audit preparation
- Contributing to ad-hoc finance projects

What you'll need to succeed
Our client is looking for an individual who is keen to learn, ambitious and eager to build a long-term career in finance. You will have previous experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant or similar role. Experience of both purchase ledger and sales ledger processes, strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. Studying AAT or qualified or looking to commence ACCA/CIMA studies (desirable but not essential).

- This will be a hybrid role, initially 4 days in the office, 1 remote, but then it will move to 3 days in the office, 2 remote.
