Assistant Accountant
Financial Reporting - Fixed Term Contract (Paisley)
Purpose
This is an opportunity to join the Financial Reporting team based out of the Paisley office on a 12-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you will support the production of management accounts and other financial reports for the site finance teams, along with the submission of monthly group results.
Responsibilities
Monthly Management Accounts
- Responsible for month-end accounting, including:
- Review of the ledger
- Preparation of inventory reconciliations
- Calculation of accruals, prepayments, and adjustments to accurately reflect business results
- Consultation with Head Office and Site Finance Teams

Group Reporting
- Submission of monthly, half-year, and year-end group reporting and disclosures using Cognos
- Submission within tight deadlines (month-end reporting by Day 4)
- Preparation of annual tax packs
Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Preparation of reconciliations for approval
- Identification and resolution of issues
- Ensuring compliance with group policy
Audit Support
- Provision of information to auditors for:
- Group accounts
- Statutory accounts
- Sarbanes Oxley compliance
Mid-Month Tasks
- Bank reconciliations
- Set-up of manual bank payments
- VAT reconciliations
- ONS Returns
- Intercompany reconciliations
- Currency maintenance
- Payroll journal postings and reconciliations
- Other ad-hoc tasks

General Ledger Maintenance
- Month-end close processes and reconciliations
- Account set-up
- Mapping to the group reporting system
- Maintenance of:
- Fixed Asset Registers (US GAAP / IFRS)
- Operating Leases Register
- Additional tasks as required
Skills and Experience
- Part-qualified CA/ACCA/ACMA
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management accounts role
