At Via, we're supporting a global, high-growth SaaS and payments technology business operating across multiple international markets. They're looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their Finance team and support core financial operations, reporting, and month-end processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their finance career who wants hands-on exposure to a modern SaaS finance function, working with cloud-based systems and supporting a fast-paced, international organisation.
Salary: £32,000–£40,000 + benefits
Location: Remote (UK) with occasional travel to Newcastle
The Opportunity
You'll join a collaborative Finance team, supporting day-to-day accounting operations and playing a key role in the month-end close process. This role offers strong exposure to SaaS financial operations, including reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and subscription-based revenue models. You'll also gain experience working with modern finance systems and contribute to reporting across multiple regions. It's a great fit for someone looking to build strong technical accounting skills in a fast-moving, technology-led environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Month-End & Financial Reporting
- Support month-end close activities and ensure accurate reconciliations
- Assist in preparing financial reports and analysing ledger activity
- Process journals and support adjustments as part of reporting cycles
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data across systems

Fixed Assets & Accounting Operations
- Manage fixed asset accounting including valuation and useful life allocation
- Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure reconciliation to the general ledger
- Prepare movement schedules and supporting documentation
- Support capitalisation of internal labour costs and related analysis
Tax & Compliance Support
- Assist with preparation of indirect tax returns (VAT/GST)
- Reconcile tax submissions to finance system outputs
- Support queries from tax authorities where required
- Assist with audit preparation and responding to audit requests
Systems & Data Management
- Work with cloud-based finance systems such as NetSuite or similar
- Support reconciliation between multiple financial systems
- Assist with corporate card expense management and follow-up on submissions
- Help improve accuracy and consistency of financial data
Ad Hoc Projects & Team Support
- Support finance-related projects and process improvements
- Assist with cross-functional finance analysis and reporting tasks
- Contribute to continuous improvement of finance operations
- Work closely with the Finance Manager and wider team
What They're Looking For
- 2–5 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role
- Studying towards or recently qualified in AAT, ACCA or CIMA
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles and month-end processes
- Experience with finance systems such as NetSuite, Xero or similar
- Strong Excel skills including data analysis and reconciliation work
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Nice to Have
- Experience in a SaaS or subscription-based business
- Exposure to international finance or multi-entity environments
- Experience supporting audits or tax submissions
- Familiarity with process improvement or finance transformation projects
