The Role

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to focus on Accounts Payable and Finance mailbox management.

The ideal candidate will have some initial experience of the accounts payable function and will have studied an entry accountancy qualification (e.g. AAT). Motivated to own a task fully, the successful candidate should be able to manage their own workload and operate without direct daily oversight but with the support of the team where required.

This role will be home based, but you will need to be able to attend our Office in Lee-on-the-Solent occasionally for team meetings and catch ups. You will report to the Financial Controller.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts payable, matching POs and invoices
  • Mailbox management, including answering questions, redirecting queries and collecting approvals
  • Daily loading of invoices on to accounting software
  • Assisting with month end processes
  • Supporting the Financial Controller and wider team with the provision of accurate and well-presented financial data
  • Responding to ad hoc queries from employees on finance matters
  • Expenses management (weekly maintenance of expenses platform and user admin)
  • Daily bank matching and month end reconciliation
  • Assist with sales invoicing
  • Completing ad hoc tasks the Finance team may require and supporting other projects as the need arise

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
