Assistant Advancement Manager (Trusts & Foundations) Ref: 43414

About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Major Gifts team within the Office for Advancement at the University of Sussex. As the Assistant Advancement Manager (Trusts & Foundations) you will manage a portfolio of trusts and foundations to secure philanthropic income supporting the new Sussex 2035 institutional strategy.

Working closely with the Senior Advancement Manager (Trusts & Foundations), you will research, co-ordinate, write and submit proposals to a range of trusts and foundations, as well as producing reports and other stewardship for existing donors. You will lead in the development of project proposals and applications, working in tandem with lead academics and professional services staff to build clear, compelling narratives tailored to specific funders.

You will build cases for support for key ‘flagship projects’ within the Sussex 2035 strategy and help to identify and match new funding prospects to these initiatives.

About You

You will be educated to degree level and/or have relevant working experience. You will be self-directed and have a positive, entrepreneurial approach to fundraising while also ensuring all established policies and procedures are properly observed. Your written and verbal communication skills will be excellent, and you will be able to work to tight deadlines.

The Major Gifts function within the Office for Advancement is a small, supportive and collegiate team. Working collaboratively to motivate and inspire each other to achieve our best, we aim to make a significant contribution to Sussex 2035. In addition to being self-directed you will occasionally be expected to support colleagues working on fundraising activities and proposals, and actively contribute towards fundraising plans.
