What You'll Be Doing
As an Assistant Arboricultural Consultant, you'll support the delivery of arboricultural projects through a combination of site-based work, technical support and project coordination.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking BS5837 tree surveys and tree condition assessments with appropriate guidance and support.
- Collecting and recording site-based survey data.
- Preparing desk studies, tree schedules and supporting project documentation.
- Assisting in the production of tree survey plans, retention plans and tree protection plans.
- Drafting technical reports and project deliverables for review by senior consultants.
- Supporting CAD and GIS-based outputs across a range of projects.
- Assisting with RAMS preparation, survey planning, logistics and project administration.
- Participating in team meetings, technical discussions and knowledge-sharing activities.

What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Some practical experience in arboriculture, forestry, urban greening, landscape, ecology or the wider built environment sector.
- Developing knowledge of BS5837:2012 and arboricultural survey methodologies.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to learn and use digital survey and data collection tools.
- Full UK driving licence, or ability to travel regularly to survey locations.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Level 2 or Level 3 Arboriculture qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Membership, or working towards membership, of the Arboricultural Association, Institute of Chartered Foresters or a similar professional body.
- Experience using GIS, CAD, Field Maps, Survey123, TreePlotter or related platforms.
- Outdoor First Aid qualification.
- CSCS card.
- LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection (PTI) or other tree inspection training.
