An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Bodyshop Manager to join Lloyd Motor Group based in Newcastle.

This is a key role within a busy, prestige manufacturer-approved Bodyshop to support the Bodyshop Manager with the day-to-day running of the department. Coming from a Bodyshop background, you will be confident managing technicians, controlling workflow, prioritising repairs and making sure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the correct manufacturer standards.

You will also work closely with the office team, customers, insurers and work providers to keep repairs moving and ensure customers are updated throughout the repair process.

Salary: £34,000 with OTE of £50,000 + Company Car

Hours: 40 hours per week

Role Responsibilities

  • Support the Bodyshop Manager with the daily running of the Bodyshop.
  • Act as deputy to the Bodyshop Manager when required.
  • Control the daily workshop loading and repair flow.
  • Manage technician productivity, efficiency and job progression.
  • Work closely with technicians to ensure repairs are completed correctly and to manufacturer standards.
  • Monitor work in progress and ensure jobs are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Support quality control, reduce comebacks and maintain high repair standards.
  • Help manage cycle time, labour recovery, productivity and site performance.
  • Liaise with the office team to ensure customer updates, authorisations and repair information are managed correctly.
  • Support with insurer, engineer and work provider communication where required.
  • Assist with repair planning, parts issues, supplements and job delays.
  • Deal with customer or operational escalations in a professional manner.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean and well-organised workshop.
  • Support technician engagement, team performance and colleague development.
  • Work with the Bodyshop Manager to achieve agreed site targets and KPIs.

Ideal Candidate

An ideal Assistant Bodyshop Manager will hold the following skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience in a Bodyshop/ accident repair centre
  • Experience as a Bodyshop Workshop Controller, Bodyshop Workshop Manager, Assistant Bodyshop Manager would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of workshop control, job flow and technician productivity.
  • Good knowledge of accident repair processes and Bodyshop operations.
  • Ability to lead technicians and support a productive workshop culture.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work effectively.
  • Good communication skills with customers, colleagues, insurers and work providers.
  • Confident dealing with operational issues and customer escalations.
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of productivity, efficiency, labour recovery, cycle time and quality.
  • Audatex experience would be beneficial.
  • A positive and professional approach.
  • Full UK driving licence.
