Assistant Branch Manager

Assistant Branch Manager – Customer Service & Sales Performance Home-based: Nationwide, UK

Location: Branch-based across Travis Perkins’ 1,400+ UK branches Working Hours: Monday–Friday (7:00 AM–4:30 PM), alternate Saturday mornings (8:00 AM–12:00 PM)

What Is An Assistant Branch Manager?

At the heart of every strong branch is our Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) – responsible for elevating daily operations to thrive as a high-performing retail destination.

As ABM, you’ll drive profitability and customer loyalty by leading your team to deliver:

You’ll harness strategic insight to flex revenue streams, ensuring every visit fuels both top line growth and fosters loyal repeat customers who value expertise and expectation.


Key Accountabilities

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Coach and build an exceptional team, recognising and amplifying each member’s potential for uplift above baseline performance.
  • Lead by inclusion-first excellence: champion their fair growth, challenge mediocrity, whilst celebrating wins – fostering cultures where everyone feels proud to perform their best work.
  • Model integrity through consistent demonstrated commitment to our 1848 values framework.

Sales Driving & Performance

  • Achieve sales targets through a customer-service mindset, establishing reperfusion loops that lead greater basket sizes and follow-up actions.
  • Ensure ** Kate & Joe** (our premium brands) drive emotional value have full sales velocity but remain revenue-optimised to the fostering of inclusiveness, without compromising.
  • Anticipate seasonality: use insights to forecast demand peaks and young lateral thinking to address sales bottlenecks.

Customer & Service Excellence

Operational Excellence

  • Serve as the reality check client when our metrics or modelling must align with deep on-workground understanding.
  • Mentorship tools will be provided to enable succession culture where high performers rise by progression derived from hands-on experience growths.

Essential

Non-negotiable foundation:

  • A track record in sales and team management where you’ve not only hit targets but scaled team contributions.
  • Broad product knowledge in a turn-key-for-products context or appliances (scarcity isn’t an issue) – a grasp off-the-belt is welcome too, including sector adjacent research.
  • Leadership under fire – assertive collaboration to motivate and deescalate conflicts without apologies.
  • Problem-solving tilt: “Answering my The Future Of Future” – how do we prep daily questions today into longer-term wins?
  • Incredible core competence in communication that happens every 3 seconds to better outcomes and ensure automation helps, not hinders.
  • Prioritisation Far Better and clear actioning sessions.

Nice to Haves

Takes ‘growth’ to the next credit:

  • Scheduling (AccruedTime systems experience + SpurEye-Touch) for seamless evaluation of team attendance.
  • Experience managing online sales or omni-channel revenue.
  • Data Sculptor: pursuing advanced metrics and report sencology for operational necessity.
