Assistant Branch Manager
About the Role
We’re bringing mutual savings, mortgages and financial advice for all back to the Greater Manchester region.
Following our merger with Manchester Building Society in 2023, we returned to the high street in September 2025, with our flagship King Street branch. That was just the beginning of a new era!
We have made great progress in our long-term goal to immerse our society into the fabric of Manchester. Engaging new members to join the movement through face-to-face financial services, enabling us to make a real difference in the local community.
We now have a leadership opportunity as our King Street Assistant Branch Manager, enabling you to make a significant contribution to our growth. In return, you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop and progress your career
- Take the lead in a future Branch Manager role as we grow our branch network across Greater Manchester
Within this role, you will:
- Support the Branch Manager in the day-to-day running of our city centre branch
- Coach colleagues and often act as a Deputy
- Collaborate to achieve business results by building long-term relationships with customers while providing a friendly and professional service
- Take personal ownership in applying the Branch ‘understanding needs process’
- Suggest viable financial options for customers and qualify leads for advice specialists
Responsibilities
- Manage the branch to meet business objectives and build strong customer relationships
- Be a ✨ face-to-face financial advisor ✨ focused on educating and supporting the community
- Sponsor, recruit, and manage a high-performing team
- Attend charity, networking events and community initiatives across Greater Manchester, including:
- Delivering free pop-up advice sessions across the city
- Leading community financial education talks on topics such as budgeting, savings, and mortgages

About You
Key Requirements
An applying credible people leader who thrives in a supervisory role must embody:
- Outstanding communication skills
- Proven ability to motivate and lead from the front
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills required to inspire teams
- Experience advancing organisational KPIs and demonstrating impact in customer satisfaction/professional service consistency
- A structured approach to understanding customer needs and proposing tailored financial solutions
Satisfaction and Experience
- Hands-on branch-based banking leadership (advantageous if available)
- If not, check that other management experience in a customer-facing environment has prepared you for our interactive industry requirements
Committal and Vision
- A proven leader with administrative aspiration based within this role as an opportunity to qualify for potential future Branch Manager position
- Accountability and long-term vision to support substantial growth in our branch network
