The Role

We’re looking for a motivated and driven Assistant Broker to join our Casualty team here at Jensten Group. Reporting to the Head of Casualty and based from our Central London office, the main aim of the role is supporting the Broking team in a client-facing and back-office support capacity. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, conducting market research, and helping clients navigate the complexities of Casualty insurance products. You will assist senior brokers in managing client portfolios (including initial consultations, renewals, and policy changes), preparing MRC slips and providing clients with clear information alongside assisting in the documentation process, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and submitted in a timely manner. Relationship management is an important part of your role, and you will be expected to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and underwriters. Some key objectives & responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor, chase and follow up with internal team members on updates to the new and renewal business spreadsheet, ensuring it accurately reflects when quotes are issued and the terms provided.
  • Proactively manage the post quote follow-up and progression of both new business and renewal quotes. This includes contacting brokers to assess their requirements and determine whether our terms meet their expectations. You will also take ownership of any remarketing or re-broking of new and renewal business as required, involving direct discussions with underwriters via phone or face-to-face meetings.
  • Contribute to the Division’s income function by ensuring renewal retention exceeds divisional targets, answering incoming calls, dealing with queries etc.
  • Engage with the Business Development Team, on specific cases and brokers enlisting their assistance when needed.
  • To ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer service standards and external compliance regulations, e.g. FCA

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
