Assistant Building Structures Engineer

The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Building Structures Engineer to join our Advisory team within Consulting.

With shared office space in Birmingham, Telford, Manchester, Stafford, Sheffield and Bristol, we welcome applications from Senior Engineers across these regions.

The role

As the Assistant Building Structures Engineer you will function as a team leader, providing and overseeing the production of technically sound deliverables for projects within the Built Environment portfolio. The portfolio may be single or multidiscipline projects.

Key responsibilities include:

To work in a team, assisting in the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements General office duties associated with the smooth running of a consulting engineering business Working on site, either on a visiting basis or in a full time but temporary role and including out of hours working You will be expected to meet budget targets and deadlines set by your manager but will have no responsibility for the financial performance of the project

What you will bring to us:

Building structures experience. Be able to assist senior staff in producing technically sound deliverables (designs, calculations, drawings, documentation). Application of engineering theory and principles with appropriate supervision. Experience of engineering software: 3D CAD software, Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Tedds. Support compliance with technical standards, including Eurocodes, and CDM 2015. Clear communication with the team, mentors, and wider stakeholders. Show progression towards Incorporated or Chartered status with a relevant professional institution.
