Assistant Buyer (Bags, Accessories & Jewellery) – Fixed Term Contract (12 months)
Harvey Nichols is seeking an Assistant Buyer to join our Bags, Accessories & Jewellery team based at our Knightsbridge Head Office.
About the Role
As Assistant Buyer for Bags, Accessories & Jewellery, you will support and deputise for the Buyer in all operations of the Buying function by:
- Administering the department effectively
- Producing regular sales, stock margin, and mark-down reports
- Ensuring accurate delivery and stock management while meeting departmental objectives
Responsibilities
Administration
- Ensure all departmental information records are accurately set up, maintained, and regularly reviewed with the Buyer
- Review and negotiate delivery schedules with the Merchandiser/Buyer, cancelling stock as needed and securing discounts
- Record, review, and analyse weekly stock and sales data, providing recommendations to the Buyer
- Produce regular ad-hoc reports and analyses for decision-making
- Develop sales history at brand and departmental levels to support range planning and buying strategies

Buying
- Liaise weekly with Department Managers to:
- Understand ranges, key brands, and fashion trends
- Review best and worst sellers by line
- Partner with sales teams on visual presentation nuances
- Create competitive shopping reports showcasing competitor insights
- Assist in supplier evaluations as required by the Buyer
- Contribute to seasonal trend identification
- Support Buying appointments (domestic & international), including:
- Analysing data and sales information
- Representing the business in market visits
- Selecting a commercial range upon request
Management
- Supervise and develop the Buying Administrator
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the department
- Act as the key liaison between:
- Merchandising, selling departments, systems, warehouse, and suppliers
- Internal teams to ensure product strategy communication
- Stores (visiting as needed to reinforce selection)
