Company Description

Keon Homes Limited, established in 2018 as a division of regional developer Tara Developments, focuses on delivering high-quality housing across multiple tenures. The company collaborates with Registered Providers, Local Authorities, and other partners to build much-needed social housing.

Role Description

Assistant Buyer/Buyer role is a full-time 9-12 month fixed term contract, hybrid position based in Chasetown, with flexible opportunities. The role will support the procurement function by raising and managing purchase orders, obtaining and comparing supplier quotations, and ensuring materials and services are available to meet project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate purchasing records and databases.
  • Liaising with site teams to understand material requirements.
  • Resolving delivery or invoice queries with suppliers.
  • Assisting with supplier onboarding and performance tracking.
  • Supporting the Buyer with reporting, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role will involve working closely with project managers, commercial teams, and finance to help ensure homes are delivered on time and to budget.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain support role, ideally within construction, housebuilding, or a related sector.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including accurate data entry, document management, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook) and familiarity with purchasing or ERP systems; confidence working with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and site teams.
  • Numerical accuracy and attention to detail for comparing quotations, checking invoices, and monitoring costs against budgets.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid environment, demonstrating reliability, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Understanding of basic commercial principles and an interest in procurement best practices; knowledge of construction materials, experience with material take offs required.
  • Educated to GCSE/A-level or equivalent; further qualifications in procurement, supply chain, business, or construction (e.g., CIPS study or similar) would be beneficial.
