Assistant Buyer
Procurement Assistant – Indirect Spend Kickstart your procurement career with Tokamak Energy!
About the Role
This entry-level procurement role is an ideal opportunity for professionals looking to start a procurement career or progress towards the MCIPS qualification.

This diverse and fast-paced role is designed for someone who thrives in a collaborative, results-oriented environment and enjoys developing a varied skillset in procurement. As the procurement function grows, we aim to provide technical and professional development for the successful candidate.
You will support indirect procurement activities, primarily in:
- HR
- Premises
- IT
- Brand
With potential to expand into direct project procurement as experience grows.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Purchase order management Manage the placing and chasing of purchase orders, ensuring compliance with company procedures and clear communication with end users.
- Supplier sourcing & evaluation Obtain competitive quotations where cost-effective and timeline-appropriate.
- Stakeholder collaboration Work closely with internal teams (HR, Premises, IT, Brand) to align procurement activities with operational needs.
- Procurement planning & strategy Assist with developing sourcing strategies under supervision, focusing on improved value, delivery, and quality.
- Supplier management Negotiate and onboard new suppliers for efficient, cost-effective procurement.
- Operational administration Handle purchase order execution, manage supply issues, and resolve invoice queries.
- Cost control & analysis Review supplier spend and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and savings.
- Ad-hoc projects Contribute to project-based procurement tasks as required by the company.

Preferred Total Experience
- No experience required – entry-level roles are welcome!
- Prior experience in administrative support, operation roles, or formally unrelated fields with transferable skills is valued.
Qualifications & Perks
- Passion for procurement career growth (MCIPS/equivalent qualifications are a plus but not mandatory).
- Microsoft Office proficiency essential.
