Assistant Buyer
Procurement Specialist (Hybrid)

This Procurement Specialist role is designed for individuals seeking to kickstart a career in procurement or advance their skills towards obtaining the MCIPS professional qualification. No scientific or engineering background is required.

- Focuses on indirect procurement (HR, Premises, IT, Brand) with potential for exposure to direct project procurement in the future
- Requires strong stakeholder collaboration across the organisation
Key Responsibilities

Purchase Order Management:
- Coordinate and track purchase orders in alignment with company procedures
- Maintain regular communication with end-users to support timely processes

Supplier Sourcing & Selection:
- Obtain competitive quotations wherever feasible given spend and timelines
- Research and introduce new suppliers to enhance delivery, quality, and cost efficiency

Strategic Procurement Development:
- Work with the Procurement team to develop sourcing strategies and procurement plans
- Assist in reviewing supplier spend and identifying efficiency and savings opportunities

Administrative & Operational Duties:
- Manage purchase order workflows, supply issues, and invoice queries
- Support ad-hoc procurement projects as required by the business
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid model: 60% onsite at Milton Park, Abingdon, with access to free car parking and excellent public transport links
- Minimum 60/40 split: on-site/home working

- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
- A committed interest in a procurement career, including a goal of achieving MCIPS professional qualification
