Role Description
This is a full-time fixed term contract for 9-12 months, Assistant Buyer/Buyer role based in the United Kingdom. The individual in this role will assist with sourcing and purchasing construction materials and services, ensuring they meet project specifications, budget, and quality standards. The role involves supporting tender processes, obtaining and comparing quotes, updating cost reports, and helping resolve any delivery or supply issues. The Assistant Buyer/Buyer will collaborate closely with site managers and quantity surveyors to support efficient project delivery and cost control.
Qualifications
- Ability to manage purchasing processes, including raising purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining accurate procurement documentation.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with suppliers, site teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Good numerical and analytical skills to compare quotations, monitor budgets, and support cost reporting.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects, deadlines, and changing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with procurement COINS systems is beneficial.
- Understanding of construction or housing development processes, ideally within residential or social housing projects.
- Previous experience in buying, procurement, or supply chain within construction or a related sector is an advantage.
- Relevant qualification in procurement, business, construction, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
