Assistant Café Manager | London, GB | Full-Time

Monocle Café, located on the picturesque Chiltern Street in Marylebone, embodies the Monocle brand's ethos— blending thoughtful hospitality, exceptional coffee, and considered design into a welcoming space cherished by locals, creatives, and global visitors. We’re seeking an Assistant Café Manager to lead our team with hands-on leadership, an emphasis on customer experience, and a keen eye for operational excellence.

About the Role

Your role is dynamic and rewarding. In this hands-on leadership position, you’ll:

  • Support the Café Manager in overseeing daily operations.
  • Oversee the team, ensuring smooth service, high standards, and a vibrant atmosphere.
  • Embrace the variability of the day—whether greeting guests, managing stock, introducing seasonal menus, or troubleshooting challenges—to deliver exemplary hospitality in line with Monocle’s standards.

Key Responsibilities

Hospitality & Operations

  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the café during peak and off-peak periods.
  • Lead service for busy morning rushes and maintain consistent excellence in food, coffee, and presentation.
  • Uphold health and safety, food hygiene, and licensing requirements at all times.
  • Champion Monocle’s values and create a warm, welcoming environment for every customer and team member.

Team Leadership

  • Support recruitment, induction, and training of new staff while developing existing team members into confident, knowledgeable ambassadors.
  • Assist with rota planning, shift supervision, and fostering a positive, collaborative team culture.
  • Provide encouragement and constructive feedback to elevate service standards.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
