BAM UK & Ireland are recruiting an Assistant Contracts Manager to be based at Elmwood House, Bridgwater.
This post is to support the Contracts Manager for the catering provision in our Somerset Schools catering contracts, through the operation and logistics of 6 production kitchens hubs and service delivery operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join the existing team to shape the way school meals will be delivered within the Somerset and surrounding areas to meet the demand of Universal Free School Meals and wider service requirements.
Making Possible
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will work closely with clients, subcontractors and colleagues, exercising excellent team working skills and building positive relationships, and have experience of Catering project management and delivery.
You will be a craft trained chef and responsible for service development, supporting the staffing needs; recruitment, training, tool-box talks as well as supporting menu development, school auditing and attending both internal and client facing meetings.

You will be flexible in your approach and be able to fit into the business needs as and when required. Due to the geographical area and service continuity required for the operation, this role will also be responsible for absence cover within the kitchens.

What do you bring to the role?
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in high volume catering management
- Craft trained chef
- Innovative and Creative
- Flexible in working hours
- Must be able to drive
- Experience in menu planning and costing
- Member of the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) desirable
- Experience of Health & Safety management (IOSH or NEBOSH) desirable
- Able to demonstrate a good understanding of Food, Health & Safety controls
- Ability to manage and prioritise your own workload to meet the needs of the business
- Competent knowledge of IT packages (knowledge of Concept desirable)
- Excellent organisational, presentation, communication, team building & interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent people management skills
