About The Venue
The Market at 22 Bishopsgate is a vibrant space that caters for all preferences and tastes. It includes:
- A restaurant and terraced bar
- Food stalls
- A dedicated events space, exclusive to 22B occupiers and their visitors during the week
- An open public event for Saturday brunch
The venue is managed by Rhubarb, a leading luxury hospitality company and part of Oak View Group (OVG), a global leader in live entertainment and venue management. This fast-paced operation demands precision with multiple stakeholders, high volumes, and zero room for error in the back-of-house operations.
Role Purpose
We are seeking an Assistant Catering Manager to assist the on-site Catering Manager at a busy corporate catering operation in the City.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role offering:
- Full-scale involvement in service delivery from start to finish
- The opportunity to lead the team and uphold standards when required
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the Catering Manager
- Deputising during absences
- Ensuring client-facing excellence is maintained
Ideal for a candidate with proven experience in quality hospitality, eager to step into an assistant management role while learning the intricacies of a corporate contract operation.

Responsibilities
Daily Operations
- Support the Catering Manager with:
- Morning briefings
- Allergen labelling
- Service preparation
- Maintaining café and meeting spaces to the required standard
- Deputise for the Catering Manager in their absence, taking responsibility for:
- Team management
- Smooth running of the operation
Client & Operations Interaction
- Handle client-facing queries and requests professionally, demonstrating:
- Responsiveness
- Polished front-of-house presentation
- Liaise with the wider Rhubarb team to:
- Contribute to weekly service reviews
- Highlight operational issues immediately
Administrative & Compliance
- Assist with:
- Stock control
- Weekly stock takes
- Identifying shortages, equipment issues, or ordering discrepancies
- Collaborate on process improvement by:
- Identifying service gaps
- Suggesting ideas for enhancement
- Support with:
- Compliance across health & safety
- Team training initiatives
- End-of-day reporting as per Rhubarb standards
Requirements
A strong candidate will have:
- A proven grounding in quality hospitality and a desire to progress into an assistant management role
- No prior requirement to have managed full operations independently, but:
- Must comfortably step up in leadership when needed
- Able to manage client interactions with confidence
- Essential experience in:
- Corporate hospitality
- High-end hotels
- Conference & banqueting
- Contract catering
- Directors'/executive dining (advantageous)
- At least 1–2 years in hospitality with supervisory or team-leading experience
- A polished, professional presence to confidently represent Rhubarb to corporate clients
- A solid working understanding of:
- Food & beverage service
- Allergen awareness
- Basic health & safety

- Conference & banqueting environments is preferred
The role requires you to:
- Hit the ground running with professional standards and client conduct from Day One
Working Arrangements & Compensation
- Monday–Friday operation, with the occasional weekend shift
- Salary: £34,000–£37,000 (depending on experience), plus benefits:
