About the role

Ty Llwynderw is an extra care service comprising of 25 apartments for over 65, with care and support needs that blends the freedom of independent living with the reassurance of onsite care providers with a package of care suited to their needs. Alongside this we have a residential suite which we provide 3 meals a day for our residents who have cognitive impairment.

As Assistant Chef, you’ll create delicious, nutritious meals for our tenants each day, sourcing fresh ingredients, and ensuring top Health & Safety standards. You’ll support the catering team and design menus that cater to cultural and dietary needs, making mealtimes something everyone looks forward to. Because great food brings people together! 

Skills and Experience Needed

  • Great communicator – You’ll work closely with the Service Manager, food service assistants, and tenants. Being friendly and approachable is a must!

  • Kitchen experience – You will need some experience working in a professional fresh-food kitchen and hold a basic catering & first aid qualifications (QCF/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).  

  • Organised and detail-focused – From chopping and mixing to paperwork, you’ll handle menu planning, stock control, HACCP records, food hygiene compliance, and budgeting. You’ll need to take pride in keeping the kitchen spotless and understand the importance of Health & Safety and Food Safety. 

  • Team player – Positive, supportive, and inclusive attitude towards colleagues and tenants.

Pay and Pensions

  • Annual salary of £25,056 FTE
  • Pension Choices:
    • Defined Contribution (DC) Scheme with matched contributions up to 10%. Or,
    • Defined Benefit (DB) 1/80th of final salary for every year of service.
  • 3 x Life Cover linked to pension membership
  • Saving scheme with competitive interest rate

  • From 1st April 2026 the option to be either weekly or monthly paid.

Time off and Flexibility

  • 26 days holiday, pro rata entitlement plus Bank holidays. Rising to 27 days after 1 years service or cash equivalent of 1 days’ annual leave.
  • Maternity & Adoption Leave: 20 weeks
  • Paternity Leave: 3 weeks
