Assistant Chef – Busy Bees Nursery Group
Join our team at Busy Bees, the UK’s leading nursery group, where you’ll play a vital role in preparing nutritious meals for young children while contributing to their growth and development in a supportive environment.
About the Role
As an Assistant Chef at Busy Bees, you’ll join our dedicated kitchen team to:
- Prepare healthy, nutritious meals that align with children’s dietary needs.
- Ensure meals support the overall wellbeing and learning journey of the children.
- Gain valuable experience in early years sector catering.

Our Nursery: Chippenham Location
- Ofsted Rating: Good
- Capacity: 106 children across three age-specific rooms:
- Baby Unit: Two specialised areas – Tinies and Tots
- Toddler Room: Two dedicated playspaces
- Preschool Space: Prepares children for primary school
- Features four outdoor areas designed for safe motor skill development.
- Located conveniently off the A350 Bath Road, adjacent to McDonald's and Sainsbury’s, with free parking and easy bus access to Chippenham (train links to Bath and London/Bristol).

Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Create healthy, balanced menus while meeting dietary restrictions and compliance standards.
- Kitchen Operations: Work alongside the Chef to supervise meals, maintain hygiene standards, and spot and address any issues promptly.
- Inventory Management: Rotate stock, prioritise orders, and ensure all equipment remains clean and functional.
- Team Collaboration: Support kitchen staff, maintain a positive culture, and contribute to process improvements.
Ideal Candidate

- Have experience in early years settings (especially in leadership roles preferred).
- Demonstrate strong mentoring and problem-solving abilities.
- Can drive operational excellence and compliance in fast-paced environments.
