  • Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Constable, you will manage Wiltshire Police’s Local Policing, ensuring our frontline services are responsive, effective, and community-focused.

  • You will lead our approach to neighbourhood policing, shaping how we work with communities to:

    • Prevent crime
    • Tackle antisocial behaviour
    • Protect vulnerable people through early intervention and partnership working.
  • You will ensure resources are focused on local priorities and strengthen collaboration with:

    • Local authorities
    • Health partners
    • Community organisations To deliver visible, effective, and community-centred policing.
  • You will have significant operational policing experience and a strong track record in:

    • Improving frontline performance
    • Enhancing service delivery
  • Your ability to lead large, complex commands while maintaining a clear focus on community outcomes will be key to the role.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Individuals who previously qualified as eligible for chief officer appointments by virtue of:
    • Successfully completing the Senior Police National Assessment Centre (SPNAC)
    • Completing the Strategic Command Course (SCC)

  • Individuals who are currently or have completed:

    • ELP (Executive Leaders) – Stage 5
  • Strong and demonstrable:

    • Operational policing experience
    • Understanding of the changing shape of policing
    • Knowledge of community requirements.
  • Experience in building effective partnerships with:

    • Communities
    • Local agencies To address:
    • Neighbourhood crimes
    • Antisocial behaviour
    • Vulnerability concerns
    • Community concerns.
