Role description:

We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Civil Engineer – Rail to join our Rail North West & Central Business Unit. In this role, you will support the delivery of civil engineering design activities for rail infrastructure projects, working as part of multidisciplinary project teams and developing your technical capability within a supportive engineering environment.

You will contribute to the preparation of engineering deliverables, including calculations, drawings, reports and technical documentation, while supporting the development and implementation of practical engineering solutions.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Support the delivery of civil engineering design activities for rail infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and other technical documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Support investigations, technical analysis and the resolution of engineering challenges.
  • Contribute to the integration of civil engineering design within wider project solutions.
  • Deliver assigned tasks in line with project requirements, quality standards, budgets and timescales.
  • Undertake checking of work in progress to ensure accuracy and alignment with design intent.
  • Build knowledge of Arcadis systems, engineering standards and relevant codes of practice.
  • Continue professional development through training, mentoring and project experience.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous relevant civil engineering experience would be advantageous.
  • Ability to prepare technical calculations, drawings and documentation.
  • Interest in rail infrastructure and multidisciplinary engineering design.
  • Good analytical, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with relevant engineering or design software would be beneficial.
  • Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status, or equivalent professional accreditation, would be desirable.
