As part of our Networks & Drainage Solutions team, you’ll help deliver sustainable, resilient, and innovative civil engineering solutions that support communities and protect the environment. Due to continued framework successes, we’re looking for an Assistant Civil Engineer who is passionate about water, drainage, and infrastructure to join our wastewater‑led team in Derby. You’ll be joining a collaborative and multi‑disciplinary team which provides hands‑on surface water and wastewater network design‑led optioneering, solution development, and technical oversight, supporting projects from feasibility through to delivery. You will join our team to work mainly on Severn Trent’s AMP8 CSO reduction programme, developing practical solutions for network challenges. You’ll also assist various UK and international clients—including water companies, highways authorities, and Network Rail—with opportunities to contribute to Design & Build projects and collaborate with contractors on engineering solutions. Your role Build your experience by supporting a wide range of wastewater and surface water management projects, contributing to the preparation of technical reports, drawings, and specifications. Work alongside multidisciplinary teams and recognised industry leaders to help tackle key challenges such as reducing Combined Sewer Overflow spills and mitigating flooding risks. Contribute to the development of integrated water management solutions that go beyond traditional boundaries, with a strong focus on sustainability, climate resilience, and protecting communities. Use digital tools and data-driven approaches to challenge conventional methods, driving innovation and improving efficiency across the water and infrastructure sectors. About you A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. A genuine interest for civil, water, and environmental engineering. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team. A proactive approach to learning and professional development. Working towards, or interested in pursuing professional accreditation (e.g., ICE or CIWEM).
