Assistant Client Manager – Office of the CFO | Edinburgh
An exciting opportunity to join a growing and ambitious Office of the CFO team. We're recruiting on behalf of a highly respected and rapidly expanding professional services firm seeking an experienced Assistant Client Manager to support the delivery of outsourced finance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys building client relationships, solving business challenges and delivering meaningful financial insight. The role offers a varied mix of management reporting, forecasting, financial planning, business advisory and client relationship management, providing exposure to businesses across a wide range of sectors.
Working alongside Client Managers and senior colleagues, you'll help clients gain greater visibility of their financial performance, support key business decisions and contribute to their long-term success.
Key responsibilities
- Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reporting packs.
- Supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, becoming a trusted day-to-day contact.
- Coordinating audit processes and liaising with external auditors.
- Preparing cash flow forecasts, budgets and financial models.
- Supporting clients with business planning, forecasting and commercial decision-making.
- Delivering ad hoc financial analysis and project work as required.
- Assisting with the management of a portfolio of clients, ensuring a high standard of service is delivered.
- Supporting, coaching and mentoring junior members of the team.
- Working collaboratively across the wider Office of the CFO team to deliver value-added solutions.
- Identifying opportunities to improve client service and introduce additional advisory support where appropriate.

About you
Essential
- ACA, ACCA, ICAS or equivalent qualification.
- Experience gained within practice, industry, or a combination of both.
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills.
- Experience preparing management accounts, budgets and financial analysis.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, client-focused approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.

Desirable
- Experience using cloud-based accounting software.
- Exposure to outsourced finance, virtual Finance Director/CFO or Office of the CFO services.
- Experience supporting finance transformation or technology-driven finance solutions.
