The successful candidate will supervise, coach, and mentor clinicians and colleagues, contributing to staff development and team performance. Working alongside a large team of clinicians, the role will involve working with a complex clinical case load and will be instrumental in developing and implementing service improvements for patients.

The department provides inpatient, outpatient and community orthotic care for a wide variety of patients. We aim to deliver a first-class service for users whilst applying the most advanced clinical and technical solutions available for the betterment of patients in Roehampton and the surrounding areas.

The role involves supporting service delivery and development, contributing to business planning, quality improvement, and the implementation of clinical governance processes to ensure alignment with organisational goals and patient needs. This includes supporting the Clinical Lead and Operations Manager to embed a standardised clinical approach, across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership within the paediatric service at St George’s Hospital as the lead clinician for Ponseti, Neurodisability, Spina Bifida, and Pectus clinics, undertaking assessment, treatment planning, and patient management.

  • Work within multidisciplinary teams alongside consultants, surgeons, therapists, nurses, patients, and families to deliver coordinated care.
  • Exercise sound judgement in day-to-day decision-making, balancing individual patient care with service delivery requirements and organisational targets, and adapting quickly when urgent reprioritisation is required.
  • Support the Clinical Lead and Operations Manager with operational planning, rostering, and resource allocation to maximise efficiency and meet KPIs both individually and as a team.
  • Attend surgical planning meetings and case discussions, providing orthotic input and supporting patient care throughout the surgical and rehabilitation pathway.
  • Manage and attend orthotics theatre lists, including providing post-operative casting and orthotic management following surgical procedures. Assist with financial planning, forecasting, budget awareness, and cost-effectiveness, including stock monitoring, audits, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Provides clinically effective, evidence-based care while supporting the team to maintain quality standards and supporting the Clinical Lead and Operations Manager to embed these within the team.
  • Proactively lead and support research, audit, and service improvement projects, promoting innovation and evidence-based practice.
  • Support the Clinical Lead and Operations Manager in overseeing data quality, clinical governance compliance, and effective communication across the team and with external partners.
  • Represent the service at organisational meetings and in external partnerships, maintaining strong collaborative relationships.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
