Assistant Commercial Manager

Assistant Commercial Manager (Commercial / Procurement) – 3-Month Contract (Hybrid, Milton Keynes)

We are seeking an Assistant Commercial Manager (£550/day | Inside IR35 | Umbrella company).

Role Overview

A hybrid position (3 days/week in Milton Keynes office) is available, with no fixed working days stipulated.

The Assistant Commercial Manager will provide critical support to the Commercial Manager across pre-contract activities, including:

  • Developing tender documentation
  • Evaluating payments and variations
  • Managing procurement across diverse contract categories
  • Assisting with measurement and certification of works per contractual obligations
  • Contributing to commercial reporting on relevant projects

Core Responsibilities

Pre-Contract Support

  • Drafting, reviewing, and processing tender submissions in line with project timelines.
  • Evaluating contractual terms and ensuring compliance before contract award.

Contractual & Financial Oversight

  • Assisting in payments and variations analysis against contractual agreements.
  • Supporting basic commercial intelligence, including contract value assessment.

Reporting & Certification

  • Aiding in work measurement and certification, ensuring adherence to technical and financial deliverables.
  • Generating commercial performance metrics for project stakeholders.

Resource & System Management

  • Proficiency in internal and external software (contract management, procurement systems).
  • Participation in pre-award risk assessment and stakeholder engagement.

Essential Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in:

✔ Working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced procurement/commercial environment. ✔ Problem-solving within commercial or procurement contexts. ✔ Basic comprehension of contractual framework and commercial terminology. ✔ Negotiation and influencing skills to navigate stakeholder relationships. ✔ Proficiency in computer systems, with exposure to electronic procurement tools.

Desired Experience

Advantage will be given to candidates with:

🔹 Strong communicative abilities across internal/external engagements. 🔹 Membership or pursuit of professional membership (e.g., CIPS^{®}, RICS^{®}). 🔹 Experience with electronic sourcing/procurement systems.


Location & Contract Terms

  • Hybrid working (Milton Keynes office, 3 days/week).
  • Inside IR35 remuneration: Payable via umbrella company.
  • 3-month contract (with potential extension).
  • Competitive £550/day rate.
