ABOUT THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Compliance Officer to join the STV Compliance team. Across STV, multiple business areas process personal data and produce content in accordance with UK legal and regulatory requirements. Compliance is therefore central to protecting viewer trust, maintaining regulatory standards, and supporting STV’s commercial success.
The Assistant Compliance Officer will provide essential support to the Compliance team which covers data protection compliance (collection, storage, use and deletion of personal data) which is regulated by the ICO, and broadcast compliance (editorial and/or commercial content broadcast/published on STV platforms, namely ODPS, TV, Radio, Digital (online) and social media) which is regulated by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and Ofcom.

General Duties
- Record Maintenance: maintain compliance department records, including activity logs and compliance evidence/documentation (using Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
- Assist in any other aspect of the work of the company as reasonably required
Data Protection Compliance Monitoring Support
- Monitoring: Conduct supervised monitoring to assess compliance with company procedures, policies, and regulatory codes/standards
- GDPR Records Maintenance: support the maintenance of mandatory documentation for the STV Group of Companies (including Records of Processing Activities)
- Training: Assist with provision of data protection training materials across the business
- Practical Application: work with operational departments to support good data protection practices
Broadcast Compliance Support
- Content Compliance: Assist with the pre-clearance or provision of compliance advice on promotional/ advertising material to be broadcast or published on STV Media Platforms (TV, Radio, Digital and on Social Media).
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Awareness or understanding of data protection and advertising compliance.
- Track record of applying strong attention to detail and sound judgement to tasks.
- A research-to-action mindset, with the ability to gather information, analyse findings and communicate clear practical recommendations.
- Demonstrates discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and team-working skills, with the confidence to build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the business.
- Previous experience in an administrative, compliance, governance, data or other regulated environment is desirable.
- A degree or professional qualification, or relevant studies in media, data protection or a related discipline is desirable.
- A self-starter, solutions-focused approach, and curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and developing a career in compliance and data protection.
