Assistant Contract Manager (Technical)

Location: University of Lincoln

Salary: Up to £55,000 depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour lunch)

Dalkia has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Contract Manager (Technical Bias) to join our team at the University of Lincoln.

Working alongside the Contract Manager, you'll play a key role in the operational delivery of hard facilities management services across the University of Lincoln estate. Acting as the technical lead, you'll support engineering teams delivering building services maintenance by ensuring compliance, Health & Safety and statutory obligations are met, while providing technical guidance and escalating operational or compliance concerns where required.

You'll work closely with Supervisors and engineers to coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, oversee small works and projects and ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with QHSE standards. This role is central to maintaining operational performance, supporting engineering teams and ensuring the contract consistently delivers a high-quality service to the client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Contract Team, Supervisors and the Contract Manager.
  • Procure safe system of work for the contract deliverables in accordance with client and company policies (with advice from QSHE and technical teams).
  • Coordinate inspections of site QSHE and project files.
  • Planning – Support the Contract Manager to design an organisational structure to meet contractual targets and workload.
  • Identify strategic direction and a detailed review of the labour load against job volumes.
  • Assist the Contract Manager to ensure that all operational KPIs are exceeded
  • Ownership of the small works and quoted work streams, ensuring QHSE requirements are met
  • Ensure all assets are compliant (with any exceptions managed or escalated).
  • Support the Contract Manager to develop and build a customer focus among all staff, ensuring timely liaison in line with escalation, policy and risk.
  • Collaborate working relationships with the client teams, key stakeholders and any associated customers.
  • Lead on employee engagement with supporting the Contract Manager to Provide leadership, guidance, advice, coaching and opportunities to ensure people are motivated, developed and retained.
  • Help to promote company schemes such as My Hub. My HR, Employee Assist Programme, My Perks, Career Development.
  • Assist the Contract Manager in delivering the services within the SLA constraints of the contract, identifying opportunities for additional revenue and profit.
  • Understand Profit and Loss, WIP and work with commercial acumen to support the contract development
  • Work with the Contract finance Support with Quoted Forecast on the Dalkia finance system.
  • Demonstrate consistently high standards of leadership, energy ownership as a role model for the team. Implement our company ethos, Core Values, Changing Gear and Aero.
  • Contract needs as required by the Contract Manager.

Qualifications And Experience Required

  • Previous Managerial/Supervisory Experience in Hard FM
  • Excellent working understanding of QHSE and compliance
  • Sound technical and Hard FM Compliance knowledge; trade/engineering qualifications are desired but not essential
  • Experience of CAFM systems
  • Excellent Computer package skills.
  • Good understanding of business P&L, WIP and Debt.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Collaborative working
  • Experience working within a commercial business
  • Clean Driving License
