Assistant Cook

We are currently seeking a dedicated Assistant Cook to join our nursery team working between our Harbourside Nursery and the onsite Cafe. In this role, you will support our Nursery Cook, in preparing food for the children in the nursery and step into the Cook's position when needed as well as supporting the Harbourside Cafe with keeping up the stock of fresh sandwiches, sausages.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a busy school or nursery kitchen
  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations
  • Understanding of food allergens and COSHH guidelines
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and trustworthiness
  • Ability to manage daily tasks with a flexible approach to prioritizing workloads
  • Good rapport with children

  • Part-time: Monday – Friday 1100-1640, (27.5 hrs week 52 weeks a year) Hours would differ when covering the Nursery Cook
  • Starting salary: £18,304.00 (based on 27.5hr week)
