About the Role
A vacancy has occurred for an Assistant Cook who is motivated, proud of maintaining high quality and takes pride in ensuring a consistently high standard of food preparation and service.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Food preparation and cooking duties for a catering service
- Serving food while maintaining high hygenic standards
- Ensuring strict compliance with:
- Food Safety Act
- Health & Safety at Work Act
- All relevant legislation (including updates)
- Delivering safe, healthy, and well-prepared meals as required
- Overseeing kitchen hygiene, stock rotation, and cleaning duties
- Flexible operating hours (including potential shifts across multiple destinations)
- Preparing for learning and development opportunities, potentially leading to upskilling within catering
Note: The successful candidate may need to relocate to different locations periodically, with appropriate notice in advance.
Experience & Requirements
Candidates must have:
- Essential professional experience in catering, including food preparation, cooking, and service
- Awareness of food hygiene and statutory health and safety standards
- Willingness to follow applicable council guidelines
- Ability to operate independently with minimum supervision in a busy environment

Mandatory Requisite (Vetting)
The successful candidate will be legally required to register with Scotland’s PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scheme. PVG checks are necessary to protect children and vulnerable adults in school settings. The verification process takes place after interview if an application is progressed.
